Thank goodness...
You look great....now keep eating
Ok so I'll admit it...I became a fan of the simple life awhile back and only because of Nicole Richie's near "Lucy" antics. She was funny, smart and had pretty good timing. I really started to like her and then she got all weird and skinny and was dating dude bros and I was O-V-E-R her.
Since her time with Joel Madden has started, Paris is much less present, she is gaining weight, giving paparazzi a hard time and seems to be back to her old Nicole ways. Its about time we get a girl like this back in Hollywood. And after listening to the Good Charlotte boys when they stopped by the Loveline studios, I have really started liking Joel madden - as a person, I still thnk their music is trash. So keep it going, this is the Nicole we all fel in love with - the rocker/punk chick who gave a shit what anyone thought!!!!

Travis and Shanna....back together
Travis and Shanna back together, courtesy of PEOPLE
Just as I speculated, the couple has reconciled. Although no 100% proof that the main reason was to get out of the MTV contract, we do know that this battle has brought both more publicity then either had in mainstream media before the Myspace fights and Las Vegas divorce parties.
Check out my original post about it here...

Shar and K Fed...don't say I didn't warn you
Jeanette Walls gives the SCOOP
If this could be true, then I believe my original suspicions were correct. A couple of months ago my mother and I were discussing the Britney and Kevin debacle and we came up with an idea. What if Kevin and Shar planned this all from the beginning? What if they thought Britney was an easy mark and would fall madly in love with the bad boy? What if this is the most famous couple of grifters?

Duff and Lohan hang out...and neither go to the hospital.
Who says their can't be peace??? Trent from pink is the new blog had the opportunity to attend Duff's release party last night in Hollywood for her new record "Dignity" and not only was my girl Hayden in attendance, but apparently Miss Lohan herself showed and the girls - meaing Duff and Lohan made amends. I think this is awesome because ever since the Duffster broke up with Madden from "Good Charlotte" (who are neither punk, nor good) she has been winning brownie popints with me...

Has an April Fools Day joke run its course???
Obviously MEDIA TAKE OUT doesn’t get the word “JOKE”! After reporting last week that they heard through sources that Aubrey from Danity Kane was pregnant
, the website received this video of the singer purcahsing "pregnancy goodies!"
The irony apparently was lost on the website or thy might just be continuing the April Fools joke. We'll have to wait and see if someone starts blushing soon!

SJP cares for us poor people
Sarah Jessica Parker, the lovely actress who brought Candice Bushnell's clothes horse alter ego, Carrie Bradshaw to life, loves fashion in real life too! Parker has signed on to release a sportswear line exclusively through Steve & Barry's. Her line, Bitten will be released to the public beginning June 7. The actress decided on working with this company due to their affordable options, while maintaining high quality. All of the collection will be available for $20 or below. Parker has said that she doesn't believee fashion should be a luxury to those who are rich, which I think is a great way to think for a celeb.
Read more here: Carrie's going lowbrow
Parker joins the ranks of other famous ladies, well known for their individual styles, like Gwen Stefani and Madonna. Stefani went the luxury label way and attempted to dress fashionistas more than her fans, in my humble opinon. Madge on the other hand released her M by Madonna line yesterday with the retail brand H&M. In the past, H&M have worked with Karl Lagerfield and Stella McCartney and with great success. The Madonna line has been in the works for about 8 months, on record, and
The H&M site is great and the M collection is showcase incredibly well. Although mixed reviews are still coming in, the line did not cause the frenzy the other designers did, it is available for a longer time (the Lagerfield and McCartney lines were limited runs) Check out the collection here
Check here for updates on the line, BITTEN

This is a smart way to get out of a MTV contract, isnt it?
MTV dont live here no more
So you have a contract where you have decided to let MTV and its camera crews in your house, edit the footage and show them on the network, but you hate what its doing to your relationship and career?
Well I guess MTV wouldnt be interested in a couple getting a divorce, fighting each other and blasting each other on your myspace profiles? And you put up the charade for a few months, ubitl everyone believes, hell even throw yourself a divorce party.
And once you have definitely gotten out of the contract, why dont you all get back together? Read more about a couple reuniting...

what if her son is the dad??
The untimely passing of Anna Nicole Smith and the fight for guardianship of her baby Danielynn has really made me think about this. I am not sure why, if Howard K. Stern is the actual dad, he didn't just take a paternity test right away. If you know something for a fact, don't you want to prove it? And if Larry Birkhead is the dad, why didn't Stern, as a lawyer, realize that the truth would come out and just make a settlement? Why has there been so much cover up on something that can be proven in an hour episode of the Maury Povich show?
And then it came to me...neither of those dudes are the dad. I am pretty sure that the real reason Anna could no longer be alive, is that the dad was her son, Daniel.
The two have had quite a weird relationship and have been viewed "making out" on occassions. This is reading exactly like an episode of Law & Order, with drugs, death, lies, conspiracy and possible incest. Why wasn't Daniel mad at his mom after all the crap she put him through? Why did he stick by her after she left him and after all the drug and alcohol problems? He never seemed mad, bored with his mother, not mad. Who knows, maybe this is why he overdosed when Danielynn was born? And maybe this is the secret that was the straw that broke Anna's back and lead to her death? I did a bit of research on this "conspiracy theory" and apparently I am not the only one who thinks this way.
Janet Charlton discussing the facts, well sort of facts....
TMZ's coverage today of the court order for paternity/dna testing...
We will soon find out who the father is, but I think, and this is so sick I know, we all kind of know that this story has been so wrong from the beginning that her son being her lover is a very good possibility.

I know Best Week Ever and others covered this... (WARNING: PONTIFICATION ALERT!!!)
But I couldn't let this slip through my hands. After I just went on this whole tirade about how awesome it must be to a member of Modest Mouse, since they now have Johnny Marr and as successful as they have gotten, they dont seem to sell out. Imagine how blushed I became after seeing this:
Why do this to Modest Mouse? Why do this to the American public?? American Idol I hate you so much!!!!
Ok so my hate for the American Idol franchise has grown and grown for various reasons. One, I consider myself a music fan. This does not mean I hate all mainstream music, In fact my fave band is Chili Peppers and I enjoy most of the new stuff coming out in rock now. Second, these people lack a good amount of talent. I get heated when the people that make this show who wouldn't have been allowed to join the show choir in high school. And lastly, what does this show have to do with singing? Deborah Gibson (yes, i am quoting former child star Debbie Gibson) has gone on record saying that she was asked to join the show secretly and loved the idea so the competitors could actually have some singing advice.
I am not sure if these critques are given after the show so that people keep their attention or they just dont care cause they know hacks like Taylor Hicks will win. But using one of the only truly emo/indie rock bands to hit it big after working their asses off for years is now available to the masses who still believe that America should be in charge of picking famous musicians. You aren't finding musicians or pop stars, you are creating branded humans - and all three of those things are very different.

I hate to admit this..
But I Love New York is my guilty pleasure this season. I am usually addicted to crappy reality TV, but this season I end seething at the mouth if I catch a glimpse of the "Real World" of "The Hills". With NY, I love the main character, New York, who wears her fakeness on her sleeve liek her long extensions. And this week's episode has the final three men battling it out for the prime spot. We will get to meet their mom's as well. The winner in my opinon is Tango, who I believe got Tiffani (NY's alter ego) a long time before the end of the ceremony...
What do you all think??
Will Chance be kicked out today??

Drew and Spike? Sophia's gonna be pissed...
So apparently, the newest couple in H-wood is Drew Barrymore and Spike Jonze. Here's the two making out at the Ivy in Santa Monica, CA.
This is not only a possibly cute couple but its an interesting twist to te sage of Sofia Coppola and Cameron Diaz's feud. Apaprently, the Ann Farris character in "Lost in Translation" was based primarily on Cameron Diaz and her affect on then husband Jonze during the filming of "Being John Malkovich". Coppola was so annoyed by Diaz she didnt even deny the rumors during major press junkets for "Translation". Diaz and Barrymore are best friends and this would seem like a great way to score points all around for Barrymore. But to be honest, I think they make a cute couple.
And here's a link to Us Weekly's coverage...

SHINNING STAR ALERT - Shia LeBeouf
Shia LaBeouf, care of JustJared.com
So in my long running tradition, I am predicting Shia LeBeouf will be Hollywood's newest golden boy. He reminds me of a young Leo. He will definitely need a few years to add to his chops and resume, but this kids got it. The Los Angeles native who made his debut in Hollywood on widely watched sitcoms in the late 90's has been receiving some critical acclamation for his recnt projects. In his recent effort, "A Guide to Recognizing Your Saints", which was released last year, LaBeouf played the lead role flawlessly as young trouble maker in streets of Astoria, New York in the early 1980's. With his upcoming film "Disturbia", a twisted horror tale, which looks like a modernized - kid version of Alfred Hitchcock's "Rear Window", will hopefully get this guy's picture on girl's walls everywhere and casting agents talking about him. He is also providing voice work for the pengiun flick " Surf's Up" (which also features Chili Pepper music) and "The Transformers". And according to Hollywood sources, Steven Speilberg has fallen in love with this kid and his casting him in the newest Indiana Jones effort, which should begin shooting witihn the year. No confirmation on this cast as of yet.
Any ways, I love this guy and I think with a bit of time and about 10 -15 years, he will become both an Oscar and Spirit Award nominee for his acting effort.
more about ultragrrrl....
Ok so Gawker, as they always do, covered the ultragrrrl story with the utmost respect, oh who am i kidding, with the most wit.
And they did the most homework...Not sure if this had been prepared in case of the need to mock Ms. Jersey meets Hipster or not. Id rather not waste time summarizing the posts, so here are the links:
Gawker's comment on Ultragrrrl's book sales and more....
Idolator's take on Ultragrrrl and their contributions...
And the main link to masterminds of funny:

Again, I ain't a hater on this girl and would love the opportunity to be running my own label at this age, but I do have to say she is getting a shit load of credit for things that m ight have happened anyway...Its kind of the tree falling the woods mentality.....

Why I despise Tyra....
Ok ok, I admit it - I used to be hooked on America's Next Top Model. What can I say? I grew up in the 90's when super models were everywhere. I even subscribed to a model magazine, which didn't tell you how to model, but merely told you about the lucky people who graced runways, fashion periodicals and George Michael videos. I succumbed to Cindy Crawford's advice on MTV's "House of Style". I even walked the runway myself a few times when I worked for a contemporary teen's retail store. It was hard not want to become one of the beautiful people out there who seemed to get anything they wanted because of their 125 lb, 5'10 frames. And then the fad died out and people became bored with models. Fashion Café closed down, Crawford gave birth and Naomi Campbell began getting arrested for her assaults on her many assistants. But one woman wanted to make sure people understood how hard modeling can be and how tough it is sometimes for "the pretty people".
This woman was Tyra Banks, one of the major names from the second generation of the model wave from the 90's. Banks graced the cover of many magazines and became one of the first women of color to regularly walk the runways. In 1996, she became the first African-American to be featured on the cover of the Sports Illustrated's swimsuit issue. In the early 2000s, Banks met with producers to create a reality competition show where the winner would become a top model. This is all fine and good, since who would know better what makes a top model, then a top model. With weekly competitions of who poses better or who can handle a bikini wax, it was hard not to be riveted, right? The catty remarks and conflicts between the more "free" models and the conservative Christians was enough drama to get this show recognized. It was the Real World with less validity and more issues, which would of course come with 12 pretty, but vacant girls fighting for the top crown. With years of melt downs and surprises, myself and other independent thinkers alike were hooked. Who would win the "coveted" titles? Would any of these girls admit their eating disorders? Which model drunkily cheated on her boyfriend with an Italian hottie and then borrowed a producer's phone to call and let him know of her dirty deed? This was trashy TV at its best. And every year, it became more and more "socially acceptable" to admit your dedication to this show and discussing your picks the next day by the water cooler.
But even after 8 cycles (which is the cute term Banks uses to describeher seasons), none of the "top models" were really top models. Most of the contestants looked like they just stepped off a Macys or Dillards prom dress showcase fashion show. The winners have Cover Girl contracts, but the only ads you ever saw them in were the ones played during ANTM. These girls were not on the covers of Vogue or Elle, hell they didn't even make Cosmo. The most famous to date is still Adrienne, the first winner, but that is more due to her time on another reality show "The Surreal Life" on VH1 and her marriage to former Greg Brady, Christopher Knight. The show has been bashed by most fashion insiders as trash TV and not truly reflective of the industry. There has been as much flack thrown at this show as there has been for Simon Cowell's mean remarks on "American Idol". And when you thought it would have to get better, it seemed the house the models were in was turning more into a museum of Bank's career highlights and the critiques from her all seemed to point out that the models "were no Tyra Banks". This little show seemed to become more and more focused on Banks then any of the up and coming contestants. It was no longer fun to watch these girls walk in 5 inch heels on cobble stones while being blindfolded. And Im not sure if its because I know there is no reason for these girls to do it or its just because I know somehow it will all be turned around to focus on Tyra.
Banks then debuted her own talk show in 2005, apparently because she couldn't speak enough about herself on one hour long prime time program. And it was no surprise that it was not a simple throwback to celebrity anchored talk shows of the 90's, you know, like Ricki Lake. Banks wanted to tackle broader issues and by this I mean, talk about herself while under the guise of helping people. Somehow this woman got it into her head that she could be and will be the next Oprah, since she had such success with wannabe 18 year old models. There were constant conversations about issues that Tyra had been through and how Tyra had a made a contribution to society and always slightly bringing it back to guest or topic at hand. It seemed more like the "talk about Tyra Banks" show then a talk show on real topics. Late last year, tabloids pounced on a picture of Banks apparently vacationing where it seemed she had gained a good 40 pounds to her frame. She then fought back by running around in a bathing suit and yelling at the media to "kiss her fat ass!" She then decided by allowing 2 plus-size girls compete in this season's ANTM that she would assist in combating the backlash on heavy girls. This was one of the more degrading things I have seen this woman do. If she is so pro plus-size, why not have an entire season of heavier girls? Is it because she knew the ratings would fall even lower?
But she really hit one out of the full of yourself park this past February. With her talk show discussing the topic of Black History Month, Banks explained how her gracing the cover of Sports Illustrated in 1996 in a bikini marked a powerful point in Black History and how it pretty much changed the world. She then posed in the same bathing suit to mark the 10 year anniversary of that "life altering moment". And I was shocked that audience members didn't riot. How can one woman believe that even after all the work done by leaders such as Martin Luther King Jr., Malcolm X, Shirley Chisholm, and Jesse Jackson, to name a few, her name even warrants a mention? And this was when I realized this woman has over stayed her welcome in the pop cultural zeitgeist. Once you start comparing yourself to actual important people with no irony, its time we lock you up, or at least take away celebrity status. And what bothers me the most is with the storm against celebrities discussing political topics, on both sides of the coin, even as well versed as they are, this woman has managed to create and produce a podium for her to "discuss" anything she wants.
But here is my point, Ms. Banks must go. She has had enough face time for a lifetime. This is a woman who believes that appearing on the cover of a swimsuit magazine has led to changes in the perceptions of African Americans in the US. She is the poster child of narcissism and the typical culture of America right now. Tyra Banks is the living embodiment of the lack of self awareness in most people in America nowadays. She assists in promoting a culture of selfish and self centered women, who pretend to discuss heavy topics, but are really just worried about being fat and how others perceive them. This idea that anyone who is famous has the ability to discuss issues with validity is a crock. I'm not even sure if she even graduated high school, let alone is well versed in sociology. Tyra has worn out her welcome in my TV viewing life and is only viewed on "Best Week Ever", which her clips are now weekly regulars. Ms. Banks and her grating personality have led me to remove America's Next Top Model off of my DVR and I hope it has for you too! Not sure how low her ratings need to go for her to realize the error of her ways or better yet, the network's error.

SHINING STAR RECAP: As you heard from me a few months ago...
Kristen Stewart was part of my trinity of up and coming actresses, along with Hayden Panettiere & Evan Rachel Wood. So far, this prediction has been coming true.
Hayden was on the Vanities cover in Vanity Fair, which shows us the fresh faces in Hollywood, a few months back and Ms. Stewart has just foudn her way there as well. Stewart is Vanities cover girl for April 2007. This gilr has four films scheduled for release this year, including Mary stuart Masterson's directorial debut "The Cake Eaters" and Sean Penn's "Into the Wild".
Hopefully this just the beginning of her career. And whats even better about her is she seems like an actress, not a girl who is looking to become famous. These are very different things.

why people hating on Ultragrrrl????
So, as it is every Tuesday, I found myself reading the latest Village Voice. This weeks cover story is on Ultragrrrl, known to her parents as Sarah Lewitinn, the 20 something dj/ a&r rep/ author / all around NYC star. It discusses her rise and of course, the criticism that followed her. You can read the article yourself here: here....
I adore the cover picture and the title of the article got me thinking, why are people hating this girl? When I first came across her Spin column a few years back and I found myself agreeing with most of this girl’s likes and found her small column simple and engaging. She wasn’t the usual music critic who spoke to its readers like they were idiots and constantly referred to certain artists as geniuses. She seemed to be a fan with a voice, as opposed to a critic, which I was attracted to since that is how I am. I like what I like and I speak my mind about it. I’m not exactly sure how she conducts herself through business or any of that bullshit, but I am pretty sure why people are down on her. It’s all about jealousy, hell, who wouldn’t be? You hear about a girl in her early 20’s who has managed to find a way for her voice to be heard in a industry where business comes first, not interests. In an industry where most people in the deciding positions are men with business degrees, not music composition or performance degrees, she has managed to stand out for various reasons. She has been the focus of numerous “up and coming” features in Vanity Fair and New York magazine, to name a few. She speaks earnestly about what she likes and isn’t afraid to scream about bands that most “hipsters” would find cringe worthy. Granted, I’m not always in agreement with her favorites, but it doesn’t she doesn’t have validity. Music appreciation is so relative that it’s hard to say who’s right and wrong, but it does take an inherent talent to foresee what others would be interested in, and so far this chick has hit that ball out of the park.
What got me mad about the article were the comments regarding her writing and her style. I am sick to death of music industry big wigs and critics telling me how music should be critiqued and what should be appreciated. This is the industry that somehow managed to create careers for people like Ashlee Simpson – who lack talent, creativity and emotion. The insiders get mad at people like Sarah because she follows her heart and ears with music, not the marketing, branding or sales opportunities. She’s what music needs more of – TRUE FANS. I say keep on keeping on....
Here's her blog...check it out for yourself - .

are you kidding me???
SO I get that there are a lot of people out there who love tattoos and I get there are a lot of people who do not. Then there are those who like the look of tattoos but are terrified of having one forever. I understand that because usually these are the people who like the aesthetic behind it, but not the meaning. It takes a certain person to look forward to aging with tattoos and what they will represent in the years to come. And there are douchetards who think tattoos are hip and cool, but are terrified of getting them because they only want them now, like alot of chicks who are stuck with the tramp stamps (i didnt make that term up...) they so wanted to get during a drunken spring break. So I am shocked that some boneheads thought that the tattoos are so cool but were so lame they arent going to get them..here is what they came up with...

49th annual grammys.....tonights show...
tonight the 49th annual grammy awards show took place and were televised live on CBS, meaning CBS has had already 2 of the huge event programs of this year.
With Beyonce looking like a 60 year old woman at a gala in the 1980's and Flea silly stringing Ryan Seacrest in the crotch, the evening begain with a lackluster push...but we did see a few great thing shappen tonight....such a the Dixie Chicks winning in every large category they were nominated for...proving that you dont have to compromise your integrity nor morals to succeed in this industry...I love the fact these women have been able to come back after getting kicked down by their audience and got to find another one who would stand behind them.
The nights other big winners was Ludacris, Mary J Blige!!!!, John Mayer and my boys, the Red Hot Chili Peppers. But all togethe it seems that Mr. RIck Rubin came out the most triumphant and found himself the produced of two of the largest winners of the night, Dixie Chicks and The Peppers.
With performances by Justin Timberlake, Ludacirs, Mary J Blige, John Legend, John Mayer, Carrie Underwood, Smokie Robinson, Lionel Richie, Chris Brown, Christina Aguilera and my personal favorite - The Red Hot Chili Peppers - the night showcased the highest arded folks of the night.
I have to say Im usually bored to tears by award shows and cant remember the last time I watched a complete Grammy award show, but this year I believe was different. Even though most of the awards were passed out at a pre show ceremony, I like the facat that it showcases perfomances that were nominated as opposed to just listening to speech after speech after speech. It was a bit of glammed up grammy event and definitely seemed to be favoring repeeat winners, such as the wonderfuld Mary J Blige and Dixie Chicks.
Here's some pictures of the winners on the red carpet, courtesy of WIRE IMAGE & E! Networks.
CHILI PEPPERS, i.e. Chad Smith, John Frusciante, Anthony Kiedis & Flea
MY GIRLS...and the big winners of the night....DIXIE CHICKS
Mary J Blige....one time idol and big winner tonight!
Joan Baez...who looked better tonight than she did when she first came out about 40 years ago
Christina Aguilera
Pink.....looking amazing I might add!!!!
Scarlett Johansson... Still not sure why she was there if she ain't boning Justin

and now the terrorists have finally won...
Apparently, Anna Nicole Smith is dead. After collapsing earlier today, she has been pronounced dead at around 2:00 pm EST a Florida hospital, according to her lawyer, Howard K. Stern.
Read the most current update here at www.TMZ.com.
I have to say as much as I saw this coming, it still is sad. A woman who just gave birth has left her child motherless, with two incompetant men trying to "be the father". America loved Anna when she was a curvy and mute model. But since her marriage to a man 3 -4 times her age, suing his family for money and the also untimely death of her son, we have lost the love. She has become a national joke, a punchline in the ever present "white trash gag". And now there is a little baby who most likely will be stuck in that terrible cycle.
As most offices are freaking out about this breaking news, Im sure most people will have their own opinons on the events. But we do have to remember, when all the sarcasm is done, there is a little one without their mommy.

rick rubin is the man...
I have a long laundry list of my favorite dudes in the music industry and Rick Rubin has to be located in one of the very top places. I mean a Jewish kid from the island who helps make hip hop/rap a household sound and then reinvents some of the msot influential bands around, well you got to love this guy.
Cnn.com did a mini article on him yesterday in their "People you should know" section. It could be from all the Grammy buzz the latest Chili Peppers album STADIUM ARCAADIUM has been picking up, as well as my favorite ladies of country the Dixie Chicks. It could also be the rumored request for him to become the co chairman of Columbia Records to try and rebuild the once leader of the labels. With the possible move, everyone is trying to figure out if the man would bring his American label to Columbia or what would happen to his deal with Warner Brothers.

so now its free for the ozzfest...
And my ass still probably ain't going. The Osbornes announced yesterday at a press conferenece in Los Angeles that this year the all day, traveling music festival that allows hard rockers and old farts to come together and worship a style of music that pretty much started sucking about 20 years ago....but I digress.
The pay to play festival, that does allow young talent to be showcased on a national level, is in its 12th year and apparently doesnt make much of its gross from ticket sales, so Mrs. Osbourne and crew have decided to let the masses into mosh for free. Now there will be more money to squander in the beer tent, on bad tattoos and merch usually sold to teeny boopers in Hot Topic. So all of you still into metal, chins up. The festival kicks off in July somewhere around Los Angeles. There will be 25 cities on this first one of its kind tour....

Crispin Glover is coming back to NYC this weekend!!!!
I had the oportunity to check out "WHAT IS IT?" and the Big Slide Show when he cam around last year. The man is incredibly intelligent and his slideshow is friggin hysterical. I have ot say as much as I found the movie interesting and though provoking, I will not be purchasing this on DVD for the regular rotation, but the man does know how to make a statement. In the lines of early John Waters, Lynchian focus and some resemblance to a Harmony Korin movie with no real plot, Glover manages to pressure you into recognizes the comfort of mainstream and what happens to one who has stepped out those bounds. With images of a nazi Shirley Temple, mass snailacide and a starring cast of actors with Down Syndrome, Glover does more than just present a little movie. He makes even the most pretentious liberal NYU grad student rethink their mindsets. The Q&A is not to be missed, or technically really cant.....

Crispin Hellion Glover in person
with his feature film WHAT IS IT?
and dramatic presentation of his BIG SLIDE SHOW
Plus a Q&A and book signing, and footage from
Glover's new feature It Is Fine. EVERYTHING IS FINE!
Friday, February 9 - Sunday, February 11 at 7:30pm!
Renegade auteur Crispin Hellion Glover returns to New York to present his notorious feature WHAT IS IT?, described as "the adventures of a young man whose principal interests are snails, salt, a pipe and how to get home, as tormented by a hubristic racist inner psyche." Its cast is largely comprised of actors with Down's Syndrome, with Glover himself also appearing in the film as an actor in the role of "Dueling Demi-God Auteur and The Young Man's Inner Psyche." One of the movie's snail characters is voiced by Fairuza Balk.
The program also features Crispin Hellion Glover's Big Slide Show, an hour-long dramatic narration of eight stories taken from Victorian-era books, plus a Q&A, a book signing and a special sneak preview of scenes from the sequel to WHAT IS IT? -- part two of the 'It' trilogy, Glover's newest film, It is Fine. EVERYTHING IS FINE!, which debuted at this year's Sundance.
"For more than 20 years, Crispin Glover, actor, has maintained a truly distinctive, oddball persona, existing on his own plane. Unsurprisingly, his directorial debut, WHAT IS IT? -- which plays as part of a double bill with a live, enthusiastically performed slide show in which Mr. Glover displays pages from his recent series of books -- is just as unclassifiable as he is... Crispin Hellion Glover, auteur, is a force to be reckoned with." - Laura Kern, The New York Times

the real match game story; behind the blank
If any of you out there were or are fans of the fabulous game show that brought naughty into a home via CBS, you need to check out The Real Match Game Story: Behind the Blank: . The hour long special is now back in rotation on GSN - CH117 if you have Time Warner New York. The show which The show that was once a rarety to tv and and constantly pushedthe envelopes, expecially with the sensors. And after Match Game made the move from its number one daytime spot to Match Game PM, it did even better and made sure being scared of crossing the line became a thing of the past.
With interviews with the staff and the regular panelists, you get to see that this show was really fun behind the scenes. It also shows the last interview with Gene Rayburn before his death. The man who brought as much personality to his shows as his panelists did will be sorely missed. Also being interviewed are my favorite ladies Brett Summers and Betty White....

Zucker wouldnt be head if Welch was still around...
but lucky for him, Welch retired quite awhile ago. The 41-year-old Jeff Zucker will replace Bob Wright as chief executive of NBC Universal, effective April 1st. After a battle with cancer, the young executive has been able to beat out the gossip that was swirling around tv about his being kicked out! So all of you account executives out there who arent extremely happy with what you are doing at Mr. Zucker....
Hopefully this change can bring a refreshing change to the stalling network. And with superb standouts like "Heroes", "30 Rock", "The Office" and "Studio 60 on the Sunest Strip" we will be seeing alot of quality programming from the network who has been able to sucker people into not changing the dial all night long.

Ms. Stewart hit it out of the park
Messengers = #1
As predicted last week, The Messengers hit a high note with American audiences this past weekend and was number one at the box office. This is the 7th year in a row where Sony has had the number one movie during Super Bowl weekend. And with a not so largely known cast and a meager budget for Hollywood standards ($16 million to be exact), it almost made it back this weekend by pulling almost $15 million. I am very excited for Kristen Stewart and hope this is just another step in the big career she is headed towards...

NY Times is reporting that Mr. Spielberg has had it with Paramount and therefore Viacom, the studio that bought Mr. Spielberg's Dreamworks SKG one year ago. Although this year should be a happy time for the director and his partners Jeffrey Katzenberg and David Geffen with the recognition being brought to the studio with Dreamgirls, Letters from Iwo Jima and Flags of our Fathers. But it seems that Paramount wants a bit too much thanks for the Dreamgirls production (Geez! I wonder why....)
Hopefully Spielberg will value his decision to stay on with Dreamworks even after the sale. And Transformers will be able to set aside the little and big brother of this group.

SHINING STAR RECAP: Panettiere, Stewart & Rachel Wood
in the few months since posting about my picks for the next strongest upcoming actresses, the ladies have been on fire!!!!
Hayden was everywhere during the TV Awards season, quickly became the anti party girl that the younger generation was looking for and signed on for 6 more seasons of Heroes...But the real clincher on anyone's upcoming mega stardom is landing yourself on the Vanities page of Vanity Fair. And thats exactly what girl just did!
Moving onto the other ladies....
Miss Stewart is currently staring in the newest thriller that makes us scared of kids, houses, ghosts, country houses, new towns, well you get the point..
Not only is this movie allowing Penelope Anne Miller to eat once again - I mean where has she been??, but is bringing us the movie before the comic book comes out. You can read more about THE MESSENGERS here.... The movie has its major theater release today, so hopefully on Monday, Miss Stewart could be part of a blockbuster......
And then we have Ms. Wood.. Evan managed to get tongues wagging about an unconfirmed scandal, as well as her talents brought to the screen. Earlier this year, after the very quick and out of nowhere break up of Dita Von Teese and Marilyn Manson, Ms. Wood was believed to be at the heart of the break up...Even credible mags were saying the two were invloved....so who knows....
I think this is funny cause there was some article where she was interviewed around halloween about his art show because a potrait of hers was one of the focuses in the show and I was pretty sure they were screwing...First Ed Norton and now marilyn Manson, this girl is a smarter brand of starlet and thats why shes going far. She premiered King of California, also staring Michael Douglas. She hit up the press area and took the typical actress pictures at the fest. Heres a pic courtesy of imdb.com

updates on top chef post
so in my haste of anger towards top chef for elliminating the best candidate for the job - and not just cause he's cute - sam, I was a bit less democratic when it came to the final two contestants...
ilan and marcel
So now we all know that Ilan won the final challenge and was "crowned" Top Chef
And have to say even after my tirade against the current winner, for the finale I really wanted Sam against Ilan - this I believe would have been the neccessary battle to make it a fight between the best of this season....and i think two people who appreciate each other in a kitchen is more interesting to me than two who bicker and hate each other but i digress.. Congrats to Ilan for a deserved winner and thanks for representing the orth Shore of Long Island...
There was an interview with Ilan regarding his win that was "released by accident" before the finale. I believe that this was done on purpose to squash the much flack Bravo found from kicking out Sam so early. And I feel bad that Ilan felt the backlash because it wasnt towards him, he doesnt make the decision. But after seeing thousands of replys and decries of ": I will not watch the finale!" I knew I wasnt the only crazed fan who apprecaites just a good competition.

ok ok so yesterday i was bored...
and now im pissed!!!
Yesterday evening I cam home from work feeling incredibly down and bored with everything! My job has become a bit too repeatative for my taste right now, January is finally hitting us here in NYC and any excitement within the popular culture world has been sucked dry!
I was discussing with my boyfriend the fact that Andy Warhol pretty much created the beginning of the end. His mashing of art with business could have been the beginning of the demise of American culture as we know it. Granted, I adore Andy Warhol and I believe the things he brought were incredibly valuable and let a generation understand it was fine to step out of the norm and not be relagated to a life in a box. So we ranted and raved about music and movies and tv and art and everything that should be entertainment and expressive and how unimpressive most of it has been recently.
So we turned off the tube, listened to the Phil Spector boxed set and took in a calm night. But then I realized that Top Chef finale was in and I turned on the TV at 11, so I could fast forward through the commercials ( I heart DVR!!!)
I watched the entire episode and found what was so interesting was that Sam was the only one, I thought, who stepped away from the show realizine his weaknesses mmore than his strengths and went to great lengths to develop them. He could have easily gone back to his old job and kept doing what he was doing, but he stepped out of his comfort zone and learned a few things. And when his boss said that she never met another chef " with less of an ego in the kitchen" I thought, this guy truly deserves to win. And whn the final 15 minutes occured of the Finale, I was floored. Actually disgusted.....I I have watched with pride what i thought was the alternative to basic reality programming on Bravo TV for the past 3 yeas, beginning with Project Runway and then Top Chef. I was even excited abotu the new Todd Oldham show....who can forget him from House of Style....
But what I saw yesterday was the alternatie to the idiotic standard reality crap...PR and TC used to be competitions of talented folks who wanted to excel at their careers. We saw people who tried to get a in on their careers and grow as professionals. What I saw last night was a kick in the face to all fans of TC. Sam, the most talented and humble chef there was kicked to the curb for the two biggest brats that hit the kitchen this season. Marcel, a marginally talented foam maker and cook, who had no humility, but kissed ass whenever possible, was a sly jerk in the kitchen. He managed to upset everyone in the kitchen, which makes me uestion any type of leadership this could provide. And there is Ilian, who I think has consistently skated by, with quality stuff, but nevver really knocking it out of the park. On the other hand you had Elia, a strong chef, who tried various new projects the entire time and Sam, the chef with most wins, a huge degree of humility and a genuine interest in making a great meal. And I was shocked when Sam and Elia were kicked out in favor or second rate losers....but when Tom said his manner or personality has nothing to do with this competition I couldnt help but become furious. Who wants to support a person with no interest in others? I dont!!!
Im still mad and knew I wasnt the only one. I just left one of 1000 + comments Tom Calichio's blog on Bravotv.com has received within less than a 24 hour span. About 98.5%of the comments echoed my feelings and stated that Top Chef has lost their viewers with this poor move. I hope that anyone out there reading this and feeling same way i do, send a comment, write an email or call BRAVO or NBC Universal.
